Oberlin

Oberlin’s graduating seniors are known for making all sorts of fashion statements as they walk around Tappan Square during Commencement. Some wear caps and gowns (or mix caps or gowns with other articles of clothing), but many do not. This dates back to 1970, when, after the Kent State University shootings, Oberlin students decided to donate the money they would have spent on caps and gowns to support anti-war activities.

I snapped some pictures this morning as graduating seniors lined up for their Commencement walk.

Congratulations, Class of 2011! And please keep in touch!
